Jamil is a self-taught landscape and adventure photographer based in the Canadian Rockies. After 14 years as a network and systems administrator, he left IT to pursue photography full-time. Today he lives and travels out of his Jeep, following weather, light and changing conditions across Western Canada, from the peaks of the Rockies to the coast of Vancouver Island. His photography is grounded in observation, preparation and authenticity. He photographs only what the landscape truly offers, with no AI-generated elements or fabricated scenes. Much of the process begins days before he arrives, studying forecast models to anticipate fog, storms, cloud movement and light. Once in the field, the plan can change completely. The final decisions come from being there, reading the conditions and responding to what the land gives him.Jamil's work has received international recognition, including 1st Place in the Seascape category at the PHI International Photography Awards 2025 and a Silver Award at the Px3 Paris Photography Prize 2025.Bilingual in French and English, he leads photography workshops in Canada and abroad, including an annual seven-day immersion in the French Alps. He also offers private one-on-one workshops and mentoring, helping photographers develop a more personal and intentional way of seeing.
